Washington D.C. – Following revelations in a Congressional report that the Trump White House tightly controlled the FBI probe of sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, effectively preventing a real investigation from taking place, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“We always knew the investigation of sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh was a sham, but these revelations put this case in a whole new light. Now we know how far Trump was going to lie to the public about the FBI doing a thorough investigation, while shutting it down behind the scenes. This much is clear: if Trump is elected again, this is exactly the kind of abuse of power he’ll commit over and over again. And Republican senators will eagerly enable him, just as they did before. Our country, and our democracy, can’t afford another Trump term.”
