About People For
People For the American Way is a national progressive advocacy organization that inspires and mobilizes Americans to defend freedom, justice, and democracy from those who threaten to take them away. For more than four decades, we have been dedicated to making the promise of America real for every American and have worked toward a vision of a vibrant America where basic rights and freedoms are upheld for everyone, not just the wealthy and the powerful.
The affiliated People For the American Way Foundation conducts research, legal, and education work on behalf of First Amendment freedoms and democratic values; provides support and training to the newest generation of progressive leaders though the Young Elected Officials Network; and carries out nonpartisan voter education and civic participation.
