WASHINGTON D.C. – Following today’s sentencing of President-elect Donald Trump for his conviction on charges of paying hush money to an adult film star, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“In ten days, an individual convicted and sentenced on felony charges related to election interference will be sworn into the highest office in our democracy. Donald Trump has remained brazen and unapologetic for his crimes, but even the MAGA-dominated Supreme Court rejected his effort to derail this sentencing. Although no additional penalties were imposed on Trump, today’s sentencing is a grim reminder that Trump is a lawless man who threatens to impose a lawless regime on America. Our job now is to do all we can to protect rights and freedoms for all of us, especially our most vulnerable.”
