WASHINGTON D.C. – On this fourth anniversary of the January 6 insurrection, when a mob incited by Donald Trump stormed the Capitol resulting in deaths, injuries and extensive damage, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Four years ago we watched in horror as Donald Trump sicced a violent mob on the Capitol to overturn the will of the people and then sat back to watch the carnage. Trump has not changed, and neither has his authoritarian impulse to hold on to power at any cost. That’s why we will make it our mission to stand up for the American people in this second Trump administration, and to call out and oppose any lawless and corrupt action it takes. We know that Trump’s only interest is in wealth and power: his and that of the billionaires who serve him. That’s not what Americans want, and we’ll be here to prove it.”
