Washington D.C. – Following the passing of Dorothy Lichtenstein, philanthropist and widow of the renowned artist Roy Lichtenstein, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Dorothy Lichtenstein was a cherished friend and benefactor of People For the American Way for decades and we will miss her deeply. Her support for People For’s mission was strong since our founding and in the weeks before her passing she was still active on our behalf, donating art to help support our work in this critical election year. We got to know Dorothy and Roy when Roy, one of America’s greatest artists, created the iconic artwork ‘I Love Liberty’ especially for our organization. Dorothy will be remembered for her generosity to art and artists, for her steadfast support of causes she cared about, and for the warmth and love she gave her family and many friends. She will always have a special place in our hearts.”
