Washington D.C. - People For the American Way today announced three endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives. The announcement comes as People For commits to supporting progressive leaders in key battleground states to oppose MAGA extremists and flip the House from its narrow Republican majority. Retaking control of the House will be essential to passing much-needed legislation around voting rights, LGBTQ rights, abortion access, Supreme Court reform, and many other vital issues.
People For President Svante Myrick and People For National Political Director Markus Batchelor released the following statements:
“This election will set the tone for decades to come,” said Myrick. “As we face serious threats of fascism, climate crisis, economic instability, and global unrest, having bold progressive leaders in place in the House, Senate, and the White House will be vital to creating the change necessary to build a better future. These candidates represent the progressive values we need to move forward together.”
“In 2024, we have the opportunity to solidify a progressive majority across the House, Senate, and White House,” said Batchelor. “We have to defeat Donald Trump and defend democracy against the threats it’s facing, and we must do that at the local, state, and national levels. We’ve got fantastic candidates on the ballot; now’s the time to get them elected and make an impact.”
The candidates are in key target states where the fight to defend democracy and protect our civil liberties is focused.

Callie Barr (D), Michigan’s 1st District
“Callie Barr brings so many qualities to her candidacy that will make her an exceptional Representative,” said People For President Svante Myrick. “She’s an attorney, a teacher, a mother, and a military wife, and she’s more than ready to defend our democracy in Congress.”
Marcy Kaptur (D), Ohio’s 9th District
“Marcy is the longest serving woman in the House of Representatives, and her record proves her commitment to progressive values,” said People For President Svante Myrick. “She’s leveraged her experience and seniority to fight for jobs, economic growth, infrastructure improvement, and much more, and we know she’ll continue to be a force for good in the House.”
Jerrad Christian (D), Ohio’s 12th District
“Jerrad Christian has an uphill battle in a heavily gerrymandered district, but we’re confident Ohioans will support him,” said People For President Svante Myrick. “Jerrad is running on putting people over profit, fighting climate change, combating disinformation, achieving universal healthcare, and protecting reproductive rights. He joined the Democratic party to oppose Trump, and we believe his talent and drive will make a difference.”
