WASHINGTON, DC – People For the American Way announced the launch of new radio and digital ads in Maryland, this week, to support Democrat Angela Alsobrooks for Maryland’s open U.S. Senate seat in her race against Republican former governor Larry Hogan.
Two 60-second radio ads, “Legacy” and “Risk,” are running on WWIN-FM and WERQ-FM in the Baltimore area, highlighting the danger of electing Hogan on issues including the courts, choice, healthcare, and freedom.
"Legacy” was also turned into a 30-second video for a statewide digital ad targeting Black voters who have not yet voted in 2024. It connects the legacy of Maryland’s own freedom fighters, including Harriet Tubman, Frederick, Douglass, and Thurgood Marshall to the state’s role in a historic choice voters face in a senate race that could impact the entire nation.
“Risk” is a conversation between two voters, highlighting the impact of electing Hogan, who claims he is a moderate, on giving extreme MAGA Republicans the reigns on power in Washington.
Both ads emphasize the need to vote with courts in mind, given the crucial role that presidents and senators play in appointing fair-minded judges to the federal bench, including MAGA Supreme Court justices who are already manipulating the law to help Trump.
“Angela Alsobrooks is our chance to do what’s right for America,” said President of People For the American Way Svante Myrick. “If Larry Hogan wins, he will help give Republicans control of the Senate, push the Project 2025 agenda, and support MAGA Supreme Court justices who will continue bending the law to help Trump.”
“Maryland voters have always been at the forefront of progress for the entire nation, and this election is about continuing that legacy and protecting the integrity of the Senate,” said People For the American Way National Political Director Markus Batchelor. “It’s crucial that voters know how much is at stake and why voting for Angela Alsobrooks for the U.S. Senate is a vote for a leader who is committed to defend the rights and freedoms that truly define our nation.”
There are 4.3 million eligible voters in Maryland. Black eligible voters make up 31 percent of the state’s electorate.

That’s why we have to vote against Republicans and ensure they don’t win control of the United States Senate.
Angela Alsobrooks is the only candidate who will ensure that Republicans don’t set the agenda in Washington.
Larry Hogan on the other hand could very well mean Republicans take control of the Senate.
That means more radical extremists on the Supreme Court. And Republican’s moving forward with their Project 2025 agenda to drastically cut education funding, repeal Obamacare and take away a woman’s right to choose.
No matter how much Larry Hogan says he’s not like Trump Republicans - Larry Hogan is still a Republican.
And that means his Republican friends get to set the agenda that would destroy our legacies and our children’s future. Well that’s just too big a risk to take.
