Religious Right radio host Sandy Rios is joining her colleagues at the American Family Association in stumping for Rep. Jim Jordan’s recently announced bid to become the next Speaker of the House. While making her case for Jordan this morning, Rios claimed that the two men leading the Republican party in Congress hate conservatives.
After heavy encouragement from the Religious Right and far-right, Jordan announced that he would run for Speaker of the House during the next Congressional session. This news thrilled Religious Right groups, many of which had advocated that Jordan pursues the position. Rios dedicated a portion of her show this morning to argue for Jordan to be chosen as Speaker, during which she accused current Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of actively working against President Trump and conservatives at large.
“Is that not typical of Paul Ryan? Has he ever done anything less? How many times has he rushed to the microphone to undermine President Trump on various things? He never wants to do anything. The only thing that he wants to take initiative on is to help his friends on K Street, and that means big business interests, lobbyists, that just seems to be the thing that drives him,” Rios said.
Rios continued, “You can’t imagine the palpable hate that Paul Ryan and Speaker McConnell (sic) have for conservatives—if ever anything ever made them angry, it’s that. If they can’t get the bottom half of their body off the couch to do anything else, they can get it off the couch to criticize or undermine things that conservatives are doing.”
