Today on “The 700 Club,” Pat Robertson told one curious viewer that indeed demons and Satan are real. However, he cautioned the viewer against seeking out ministers who preach nonsense and claim that they can cast out demons.
“Most people don’t know what a demon is like and you get these people who are into demon-casting-out ministry and it’s a lot of hokum and they can do a lot of psychological damage to people, telling them that they have demons,” Robertson said.
Robertson then seemed to contradict his own point by advising viewers of the prayer he personally uses “that takes care of demons.”
Of course, Robertson has a long record of “demon-casting out” himself, calling on members to rebuke the demonic spirits in their sweaters, household objects, artwork and games like Dungeons & Dragons.
He also believes that adopted children can bring “demonic influences” into their new home, homosexuality is “related to demonic possession” and people who practice karate are “inhaling demonic spirits.”
So if you need someone to cast out demons, just ask Pat Robertson, not one of the ministers preaching “hokum.”
