Right-Wing Media Figures Rally Behind a White Nationalist

Right-wing news figures are rallying behind Faith Goldy, a self-declared white nationalist, in her bid to become Toronto’s next mayor.

Goldy is currently campaigning(link is external) to become the next mayor of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, which has consisted mainly of publicity stunts, including her crashing of a mayoral debate(link is external) and being escorted off stage by police. In light of those stunts, Goldy is polling poorly(link is external).

Last year, Goldy was fired(link is external) from the far-right outlet Rebel Media after she popped up on a neo-Nazi podcast after the now-infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a white supremacist drove a car into a group of counter-protesters, resulting in the death of Heather Heyer. She also identified herself as an ethno-nationalist(link is external) on a white nationalist web-based radio outlet, meaning that she supports policies that would leverage government power to enforce a white supermajority in her country. Goldy once told(link is external) far-right commentator Stefan Molyneux that homosexuality facilitated the Holocaust.

Goldy has also recited(link is external) and defended(link is external) the notorious white supremacist slogan dubbed the “14 Words(link is external).” She recently promoted a book(link is external) that advocates for the “elimination of Jews.” In her bid for mayor, she’s tapped volunteers(link is external) from extremist groups.

In her bid for mayor, Goldy has attempted to court larger conservative voices with varying degrees of success.

Doug Ford, current premier of Ontario, posed for a photo with Goldy at Ford Fest last month and declined to denounce her. As Press Progress points out(link is external), the photo op was used by Goldy’s campaign to legitimize her message.

She also posed for a photo(link is external) with Rudy Giuliani, a former New York City mayor who is now serving as President Trump’s attorney.

Laura Loomer, a right-wing conspiracy theorist notorious for her anti-Muslim Twitter meltdown(link is external) last year, announced yesterday that she would join Goldy at a protest in Toronto against “Sharia supremacy” and “Islamic terrorism.”

Loomer’s announcement garnered the support of CRTV host Michelle Malkin.

At “The_Donald,” Reddit’s most popular pro-Trump community, it was announced(link is external) that Goldy will be participating in an “Ask Me Anything” discussion thread tomorrow. Austin-based conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has also shown his support(link is external) for Goldy; yesterday(link is external), she was a featured guest on “The Alex Jones Show.”
