Pat Robertson: Democratic Operatives Were Behind Trump-Russia Meeting And 'Wanted To Get Caught'

Today on "The 700 Club," Pat Robertson interviewed Bill Gertz about his most recent book, "iWar: War and Peace in the Information Age." During the discussion, Robertson floated his theory about what really was behind the meeting that Donald Trump Jr. had during the 2016 presidential campaign with a Russian lawyer who Trump Jr. was told "offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to [his] father."

As Robertson explained it, the entire meeting was probably set up by Democratic operatives working with the consulting firm Fusion GPS who "wanted to get caught" in order to highlight their ability to "disrupt America" and President Trump's agenda. Robertson cited the fact that Fusion GPS was responsible for a dossier alleging that Russia had incriminating information about then-candidate Donald Trump and had once worked on a lawsuit that involved the Russian lawyer who met with Trump Jr.

"My thought was," Robertson said, "maybe this group wanted to get caught to prove that they could disrupt America after Trump won. And they've been pretty good at that; we're paralyzed right now because of this thing."
