RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.
Far-right activists are still determined to find the truth about President Obama’s background, although it may not matter in the end since, after all, the gay rights movement is on the verge of ushering in the total destruction of America and possibly the world.
5) Obama Did 9/11
James David Manning, the extremist pastor courted by Donald Trump, released a new video this week calling on the media to hammer Obama over his supposedly fake birth certificate.
But birtherism isn’t the only conspiracy theory Manning raised in the video.
He also alleged that our “son of Satan” president helped engineer the September 11 attacks and founded the Taliban.
“Barack Hussein Obama was integrally involved in 9/11,” he said. “When those towers went down, Obama knew it days before they were going down. See, Obama worked as a CIA operative in Afghanistan; he is the one that established the Taliban; he was the one that took them from Mujahedeen into Taliban; he was the one that was integral in the process of putting Osama [bin Laden], his pedigree, his ability, putting his financial network together. When Obama talks about community organizing, he was a community organizer of the Taliban in Afghanistan with Osama bin Laden.”
“The man that took down the World Trade Center, the man that took down those towers is now the president of the United States of America,” he said. “What the hell is going on?”
4) Must Be That Economic Anxiety
Manning is just one of several fringe conspiracy theorists whose support Trump has sought as he seeks the presidency, which should come as no surprise since Trump spouts plenty of conspiracy theories of his own.
Indeed, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University poll, Trump supporters disproportionately agree with the beliefs — all of which have been echoed by Trump — that “President Obama is hiding important information about his background and early life,” “global warming is a myth concocted by scientists,” Hillary Clinton “did nothing to protect” the U.S. presence in Benghazi, and “childhood vaccines cause autism.”
Trump voters are also more likely to believe that the Sandy Hook shooting was “faked in order to increase support for gun control,” a favorite claim of Trump endorsers Alex Jones and Carl Gallups.
A Public Policy Polling survey found that a majority of Trump supporters think Obama is a foreign-born Muslim, and that Trump backers are more likely to agree that Justice Antonin Scalia was murdered.
And yet we always hear that Trump owes his success to pervasive economic anxiety….
3) Slavery Indoctrination
If anyone is surprised that Trump supporters are more likely to embrace conspiracy theories, look no further than what appears on Fox News on a regular basis.
Just today, “Fox & Friends” hosted Sam Sorbo, wife of actor and conservative activist Kevin Sorbo, to discuss her new book encouraging parents to homeschool their children.
Sorbo told the Fox hosts that the public school system is “indoctrinating our children into slavery and the proof of that is Bernie Sanders because you have a whole group of students now who believe in socialism and they weren’t taught that socialism is the greatest form of slavery known to mankind.”
When asked if she still allows her children to befriend public-school kids, Sorbo said, “I don’t want my kids to be little socialists.”
2) Homosexual Doom
This week, televangelist Pat Robertson gave “700 Club” viewers a lesson in history you won’t hear in public schools: Homosexuality destroys nations.
As Robertson explained, once the “homosexual lifestyle” becomes normal, people become so obsessed with “rampant homosexuality” that they stop planning or caring about the future, until society eventually collapses.
Robertson also worried that the rise of gay rights in America and abroad may be a fulfillment of prophesies found in the Book of Revelation.
1) Something Might Happen
While pitching his buckets of survival food, Jim Bakker offered one of the most scary and specific prophesies we’ve heard in all our years of hearing prophesies.
According to Bakker, God told him that “a major event is about to take place.”
And before this event takes place at some point in the future, people should order food from his ministry before it is “too late.”
