Liberty Counsel's Mat Staver apparently does not appreciate our practice of directly quoting the things that he says in order to highlight his radical right-wing views and agenda, which is why he declared on today's "Faith and Freedom" radio broadcast that we here at Right Wing Watch are one of "the biggest purveyors of fake news in the country."
When the program's co-host Matt Barber said that conservative Christians should be encouraged by the election of Donald Trump but also should "prepare for battle because the secular left can be a dangerous animal," especially when backed into a corner, Staver responded by declaring that groups like Right Wing Watch and the Southern Poverty Law Center will now ramp up our efforts to smear the Religious Right by spreading "fake news" about them.
"It's interesting how the left talks about fake news," he said, "The Southern Poverty Law Center ... and Right Wing Watch are the biggest purveyors of fake news in the country. They're trying to dehumanize people and organizations and they literally create fake news. They're the fake news purveyors and they're going to continue to ramp up their agenda, to distort stories, to put out lies and attack individuals."
