On his “Gun Owners News Hour” radio program this weekend, Larry Pratt said that President Obama shares the same objective as Adolf Hitler.
In a conversation with conservative dystopian fiction author Mike Connelly, Pratt, executive director emeritus of Gun Owners of America, claimed that Hitler disarmed the public before taking power and insisted that Obama was doing the same but in a more subtle way.
“The book is called ‘The Rag,’ and we were talking about how it deals with veterans,” Pratt said of Connelly’s most recent work of fiction, “and whether there is just a straight-out move against them, the way that Hitler did to disarm them sort of en masse or whether, maybe a little bit more subtle, I think Obama has probably been a lot more subtle than Hitler even though he has announced he has the same objective, to fundamentally transform his country. That was certainty Hitler’s objective and Obama has been marching along toward that road.”
This is far from the first time a conservative critic of Obama has likened his stance on gun laws to that of Hitler. Salon reported that while the comparison is common among gun activists, “the German government that immediately preceded Hitler’s … actually had tougher gun laws than did the Nazi regime.”
