As conservative pundits in the U.S. gush over the election victory of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, American Religious Right activists continue to conveniently ignore Netanyahu’s government’s support for taxpayer funding to cover abortion procedures, universal health care and gay rights.
In an appearance on the American Family Association’s radio network today, Fox News commentator Todd Starnes continued that trend, boasting to host Ed Vitagliaono that he “put out a tweet yesterday: ‘Netanyahu wins, Obama loses, praise be to God.’”
Starnes said the Obama administration has made the U.S. “BFFs with the Islamic Republic of Iran” and hostile to Israel and took issue with First Lady Michelle Obama’s appearance at an event marking the Persian New Year, or Nowruz.
Of course, the White House tradition of celebrating Nowruz started with George W. Bush.
