Donald Trump made another appearance on televangelist Pat Robertson’s program today, where he boasted about nonexistent polls showing him leading Hillary Clinton in the presidential race.
Trump told Robertson that he leads Clinton in Pennsylvania and that he “hears” he is tied with her in Connecticut, adding that he even has “a good chance of winning New York” in the general election. In reality, polls consistently show Trump trailing Clinton in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, and the presumptive GOP nominee is down by more than 20 points in New York.
The conversation then turned to his standing among Hispanic voters, with Trump insisting that the “purely dishonest” media has misrepresented him and deliberately twisted his otherwise “perfect” statements to make them appear disparaging to Latinos.
“You really love Mexicans, Hispanics,” Robertson said. “Talk to us about that, because you’re portrayed as a guy who hates Mexicans, but you don’t hate them.”
Trump concurred: “I have great relationships with Hispanics, with Mexicans. I have thousands of people working for me and have worked for me. Thousands and thousands.”
“We’re going up, up, up,” he said. “We’re going up, up, up because they realize I don’t want people coming in illegally and those people that are coming in illegally are going to take the jobs of the people that are already here and are here legally and went through a process.”
