Donald Trump To Court Pat Robertson…Again

Today on “The 700 Club,” Pat Robertson announced(link is external) that Donald Trump will be holding a campaign rally at Regent University, the Virginia Beach college he founded, on Saturday.

This isn’t the first time the GOP presidential nominee has courted Robertson.

Trump, who has made several appearances on Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network, told the televangelist at a February event that he would appoint “very conservative” justices to the Supreme Court(link is external). Robertson, for his part, told Trump that he “inspires us all(link is external).”

Robertson has emerged as one of Trump’s most stalwart defenders on the Religious Right, claiming that the business mogul is facing satanic(link is external) attacks(link is external) and dismissing the tape of Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women as simply “macho(link is external)” talk.

Trump seems to have no problems associating with the televangelist who, among other things(link is external), blamed 9/11 on liberals and gays(link is external) and suggested that gay people wear special rings(link is external) to spread HIV/AIDS to unsuspecting acquaintances.

We only hope that Robertson doesn’t give Trump the same assurances he gave Mitt Romney(link is external).
