During a Friday interview with the Tea Party News Network, Stacy Swimp, a Michigan pastor and anti-gay activist, denounced an effort in the Michigan state legislature to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the state’s civil rights law, which already bars discrimination based on factors such as race, religion, sex, weight and marital status.
Speaking with Tim Constantine of “The Capitol Hill Show,” Swimp alleged that “frauds” in both the Democratic and Republican parties are “set against Christian liberty, our Christian right of freedom of expression and conscience.”
“We need to make sure that we are doing everything we can to stop them from amending our civil rights bill to include this civil rights language, or my friends, freedom as we know it will no longer exist,” he said.
While the amendment defines sexual orientation as heterosexuality, homosexuality or bisexuality, Swimp said that it would actually legalize pedophilia: “The fact is that pedophilia in fact is a sexual orientation, so I suppose that they intend to include that as a civil right.”
