According to the lawyer representing Alex Jones in a custody case, the arch-conspiracy theorist's explosive and childish personality is all an act, and he is not actually as violent and hot-tempered as he portrays himself on his “InfoWars” network.
Jones, a far-right pundit who gained prominence during the presidential campaign after Donald Trump appeared on his show and promoted his conspiracy theories, is in a custody battle with his ex-wife, whose attorneys claim that jurors should hear a selection of Jones’ violent outbursts—he recently threatened Rep. Adam Schiff and actor Alec Baldwin—as they will show that he is not a fit parent for their three children.
Jones’ representative, however, says that there is no reason to air such videos in court since Jones is simply “playing a character” on his television show, the Austin American-Statesman reports:
At a recent pretrial hearing, attorney Randall Wilhite told state District Judge Orlinda Naranjo that using his client Alex Jones’ on-air Infowars persona to evaluate Alex Jones as a father would be like judging Jack Nicholson in a custody dispute based on his performance as the Joker in “Batman.”
“He’s playing a character,” Wilhite said of Jones. “He is a performance artist.”
Of course, Jones claims on air that he is simply passionate because he is a human with “hot blood going through” his heart:
