Of course, the last time that was the case, the result was Watergate, which is why Congress stepped in to "insulate the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from undue pressure being exerted upon him from superiors in the Executive Branch."

We're pretty sure that if suicide vests were readily available for sale and being regularly being used to kill masses of people, the government would ban them.
