WASHINGTON, D.C.— As the Senate Judiciary Committee prepares to hold a confirmation hearing for Cory Wilson, Donald Trump's nominee to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, PFAW Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:

"There are many compelling reasons why Cory Wilson's nomination absolutely should not move forward. First, it is dangerous for our democracy that a president who has been impeached over his assault on the rule of law should continue to be given the opportunity to make lifetime appointments to the federal judiciary. Second, Wilson should be rejected based on his own appalling record. His open hostility to rights for LGBTQ Americans, to accessible health care, to reproductive rights, voting rights and gun safety measures is deeply troubling. The mean-spirited terms he uses to describe people and politicians he disagrees with are antithetical to the fair-minded, unbiased approach any responsible senator should seek in a federal judge. Wilson is wrong for the bench, as is any Senate action on this nomination."
