WASHINGTON, D.C. – People For the American Way (PFAW) today issued the following statement from PFAW Senior Policy Analyst Jen Herrick after the Trump administration proposed a new Affordable Care Act regulation that will lead to even more discrimination in health care.

“What the administration is proposing today is yet another assault on LGBTQ+ people and people seeking abortion care that will leave their health and rights at risk. Those most affected by the changes, particularly transgender people, people of color, people with disabilities, and non-English speakers, already face significant barriers to obtaining the care they need, and the consequences are deadly. While the law itself is not changing, the new Trump administration proposal erects discriminatory barriers between patients and health care. We must support equal access to health care during the HHS public comment period.”
