WASHINGTON, D.C. — With more news circulating about an upcoming Congressional COVID-19 relief package to help revitalize the nation’s economy, Senior Director of Outreach and Public Engagement Diallo Brooks released the following statement:

“When the Senate returns to Washington next week, its top priority must be a CARES 2 package that provides critical aid to state and local governments and pandemic relief for frontline workers risking their lives to keep America safe and healthy, as well as struggling families. It is outrageous that Republicans have thus far refused to provide aid to local governments that support essential personnel such as firefighters and police officers, choosing instead to play politics with this money. We also need Congress to pass $3.6 billion in additional funding to help safeguard voting rights and election security measures for the remaining primaries and the general election in November. Our roadmap to recovery has to address these and other critical issues, and Republicans must stop their stonewalling and partisan gamesmanship and put the American people first.”
