WASHINGTON—After news reports that White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is being removed from his position, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:
“Steve Bannon had no place being in the White House in the first place, given his history of stoking hateful, racist ideologies. But getting rid of Bannon isn't even close to enough. Trump’s administration—and the president himself—continue to vilify communities of color and enable neo-Nazis, the KKK and white supremacists. Even now, he still employs others pushing white supremacy, like Stephen Miller and Sebastian Gorka.
"Even with Bannon out, this is still the presidential administration that Breitbart built. As long as his administration is filled with extremists, and he keeps advancing extremist policies, Trump’s denouncements of bigotry and hate are just hot air.”
