WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following the House Judiciary Committee vote in favor of the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act, PFAW Political Director Lizet Ocampo released the following statement:
"We applaud today's vote in favor of the NO BAN Act, which would end religious discrimination in immigration policy. The Trump administration's efforts to ban Muslims from entering the United States -- recently extended to more nations and communities of color, including a number of African countries -- are deeply harmful and run counter to the values of our democracy. Trump's ban separates families and incites animus and violence against Muslims. We're proud to see members of Congress stand up against this administration's relentless attempts to marginalize Muslims and people of color, at a time when courage and leadership on this issue are needed more than ever."
