WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following the passage in the Senate of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, focused on providing support for America’s families, People For the American Way Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:
"The Senate finally passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act today, which is a first step in recognizing the importance of putting families and working people first during this crisis. Congress is acting on several proposals to protect millions from further spread of the virus and is acknowledging the role that social safety nets play in keeping our communities safe and healthy. Everyone in America needs safeguards from the coronavirus. We strongly urge lawmakers to continue to keep everyday Americans’ needs at the top of the agenda as they take further steps to mitigate the economic effects of this pandemic.”
