Washington, D.C. — As senators return to Washington and Republicans prepare to bulldoze through more of Trump’s extreme judicial nominations, People For the American Way Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:

“The number one priority for Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans back in Washington should be pandemic relief and the passage of the House-passed Heroes Act, not advancing judges with abysmal records on health care. In the middle of a pandemic, they are choosing to focus on floor votes and hearings for Donald Trump’s extreme judicial nominees – including a hearing on Wednesday for Cory Wilson, who joins Justin Walker as another nominee who is hostile to accessible health care at a time when millions of Americans need it most. Wilson has called the Affordable Care Act ‘perverse’ and ‘illegitimate’ and Walker has called the ACA ‘indefensible.’ This is the wrong time to focus on anti-health care judges. It's time for Senate Republicans to act now and prioritize economic security, health, families, and lives and pass the Heroes Act.”
