WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following today's vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee to advance the nomination of Sarah Pitlyk to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, People For the American Way Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:
"Today's vote to advance another extremely problematic nominee underscores how the Trump administration and Senate Republicans will go to any lengths to jam more right-wing ideologues onto the federal bench. Sarah Pitlyk is yet one more nominee deemed not qualified by the American Bar Association because of her lack of experience; indeed, she has never tried a case. What she would bring to the bench instead is intense hostility to reproductive rights, which would hurt the people of Missouri."
