WASHINGTON, D.C.—  Following today's Senate confirmation of Steven Menashi to a lifetime seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, People For the American Way launched a fresh video ad highlighting Menashi's role in helping Education Secretary Betsy DeVos devise a scheme to deny loan reimbursement to students defrauded by for-profit colleges -- targeting Republican Senators who voted to confirm him.

The ad targets Republican Senators in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, and North Carolina. It can be viewed here: ">

"Steven Menashi's role in Betsy DeVos's scheme to deny student loan reimbursement to victims of fraudulent for-profit colleges was inexcusable. This ad reminds constituents of Senators who voted for Menashi that they do have recourse: vote those lawmakers out next year," said PFAW Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker.

Read PFAW's statement on Menashi's confirmation here.

Text of ad below:

Tens of thousands of students were ripped off by for-profit colleges that went under and never gave students their money back.

Trump lawyer Steven Menashi and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos say, "tough luck."

They cooked up an illegal scheme to deny students their money.

Then Donald Trump nominated Menashi for a lifetime seat on one of our nation's most powerful courts.

And almost all Republican Senators voted to confirm him.

It's time to take them to school.

Tell Senators who voted for Menashi: You won't get OUR votes in 2020.
