Washington, D.C.—People For the American Way (PFAW) today released the following statement from PFAW Political Director Lizet Ocampo after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Dream and Promise Act.

"With the news filled with reports of Trump's abusive policies targeting immigrant families, we applaud the House for passing a bill to protect 2 million people from this administration's deplorable deportation agenda. While Democrats work to protect immigrants from Trump’s attacks, Republicans have completely failed to reign in the administration's abuses. When this bill makes its way to the Senate, Republicans should consider what message they want to send to voters in 2020 and do the right thing."

Ocampo runs PFAW’s Latinos Vote! program, which exposes and counters anti-immigrant, anti-Latino rhetoric and policies. Through electoral work and issue-based campaigns, Latinos Vote! holds groups, leaders and influencers accountable for the harm they do to immigrant and Latino communities. Learn more.
