Washington D.C. – Following the announcement of the passing of Sidney Felsen, a pillar of the art world and co-founder of Gemini G.E.L., world renowned printer and publisher of fine art limited editions, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:

“Sidney Felsen was beloved among America’s greatest artists and was one of the best friends People For the American Way ever had. We will be forever grateful for his generosity to People For. In addition to facilitating and publishing works for the organization by the likes of Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha and Richard Serra over many decades, no one was more generous than Sidney in helping this organization and the cause writ large in any way he or we could think of. Sidney understood the power of art to inspire activism and this organization was proud to be his chosen partner for many projects over so many years. He was a steadfast supporter of People For’s mission to build a democracy that works for all of us, not just the privileged few. We will miss him and we wish his wife Joni Weyl, his daughter Suzanne Felsen, and all his family including his Gemini “family” of printers and artists, peace and comfort in the knowledge that he was so deeply loved and admired.”
