Washington D.C. – Following President Biden’s State of the Union address tonight, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“We applaud President Biden for a strong speech in which he clearly laid out his achievements and priorities, including economic justice, reproductive justice, and an end to the violence in Gaza. To those we would add one more: the tremendous progress this administration has made in nominating and confirming outstanding federal judges. President Biden’s nominees have been historically well-qualified and diverse, and they are transforming the federal bench. Now we need more of them. We’re encouraging the President to use this final year of his first term to focus on nominating great individuals for every vacancy on the bench, and we’re urging the Senate to make confirming these judges a top priority.”
