Washington, DC — As the nation honors the memory of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Decades after Dr. King’s assassination, movements for freedom, equality, and justice still draw inspiration from his life and work. We are inspired by his fight for justice as we combat the inequality we see all around us. We are inspired by his love for humankind as we combat hate. We remember that Dr. King taught us our fates are intertwined in a ‘single garment of destiny,’ and that calls us all to act. Each of us has a responsibility to work for justice for our fellow human beings, on Dr. King’s birthday and every day. That is the best way to honor him.”
