WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Council President Brandon M. Scott was endorsed by People For the American Way’s Next Up Victory Fund in the race for Mayor of Baltimore City. The Next Up Victory Fund helps young progressive candidates win races for state and local offices across the country.

"People For the American Way is a formidable organization committed to advancing the ideas of freedom, equality, and justice," said Scott. "Their endorsement will bolster our efforts to run a successful campaign to build a safer, more equitable Baltimore."

“People For the American Way is proud to endorse Brandon Scott for Mayor of Baltimore,” said PFAW President Michael Keegan. “We’ve known and worked with Brandon for years and he is a true leader. We know he cares deeply about creating better opportunities for Baltimore residents, especially its young people.”

Keegan continued, “He has fought for more resources for public schools and will make education one of his top priorities as mayor. He’s committed to reducing gun violence and improving wages and opportunities for working families. We strongly believe he is the right person to lead the city forward as we enter this new decade.”

Since 2017, PFAW’s Next Up Victory Fund has helped elect over 260 young progressives to state and local office. Endorsements include Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, Saint Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, as well as Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum.
