Washington, D.C.—People For the American Way (PFAW) today congratulated David Garcia on winning the Democratic gubernatorial primary in Arizona. PFAW endorsed Garcia in February.

“Republicans began attacking David before the primary ended because they know his message is energizing voters,” PFAW President Michael Keegan said. “By uniting people behind a plan for good public schools, strong public infrastructure, and support for immigrant families, David cut through the noise and made a real connection with Arizonans. People For the American Way was proud to stand beside him in the primary, and we look forward to fighting alongside him toward a November victory.”

"The choice could not be more stark: Arizona's Republicans lined up behind Trump's man in Phoenix, while Democrats chose the candidate most committed to educating our children and investing in a renewable energy economy," PFAW Political Director Lizet Ocampo said. "David's win puts us one step closer to getting a governor who fights for working families."

PFAW endorsed Garcia in February at the National Press Club alongside Stacey Abrams (D-Ga.) and Andrew Gillum (D-Fla.), both of whom won their respective gubernatorial primaries.
