Washington D.C. – As the Senate closed out a week in which five more Biden judges were confirmed, including Monica Ramirez Almadani for the Central District of California and Brandy McMillion for the Eastern District of Michigan as the 152nd and 153rd confirmations, respectively, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“President Biden, and the Senate Democrats under the leadership of Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Durbin, are making enormous progress in nominating and confirming exceptional nominees to the federal bench. They deserve our heartfelt congratulations. The record so far is stellar: confirmations of more women, more people of color and more Black judges than in any president’s first term. Not only that, this first Biden term so far has seen the judicial confirmations of more women of color than any president has confirmed in their entire time in office, ever. And these new Biden judges are people with a deep commitment to equal justice and civil rights. We’re excited to watch these confirmations happening and even more excited to know there are more in store before the end of the year.”
