Washington D.C. – Following Minnesota State Senate passage of the Democracy for the People Act, which was earlier passed by the state House, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“The Democracy for the People Act is a great step forward that will help restore and preserve the right to vote for all Minnesotans. While we wait for Congress to act to protect voting rights nationwide, Minnesota has taken the initiative for its own citizens with legislation that addresses some of the biggest threats to free and fair elections today. This bill should be a model for all state legislatures that care about protecting elections and our democracy. We’re proud to have supported it and we applaud state lawmakers for passing it; now we look forward to the governor’s signature.”
