Washington D.C. – Following Senate confirmation of Nancy Abudu to a seat on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“We are overjoyed to celebrate the confirmation of Nancy Abudu. Throughout her career, Judge Abudu has dedicated her formidable legal skills to helping those without wealth and power protect their constitutional and legal rights, especially the right to vote. Her story embodies the American Dream; an immigrant from Ghana, she has achieved distinction through her hard work and commitment to civil rights and the rule of law. She will be the first Black woman in history to serve on the 11th Circuit of Appeals. This is a great day for millions of people living and working in the 11th Circuit and for our justice system, and we congratulate Judge Abudu in addition to Leader Schumer, Judiciary Chair Durbin and President Biden on this achievement.”
