Washington D.C. – Following President Biden’s nomination of Nicole Berner for a seat on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“We want to congratulate President Biden and Senators Cardin and Van Hollen for this superb nomination. Nicole Berner is an outstanding choice for the Fourth Circuit and we wholeheartedly endorse her nomination. Her personal dedication to equal rights and justice for all is inspiring. She has dedicated her legal career to protecting workers’ rights, women’s rights and LGBTQ rights, most notably in her roles with SEIU and Planned Parenthood. Her professional background will benefit a federal bench that still needs more judges with civil rights and labor law backgrounds. Once confirmed, she will also be the firstly openly LGBTQ person to serve on the Fourth Circuit. We encourage the Senate to move quickly to confirm her.”
