Atlanta— Today, People For the American Way’s Latinos Vote! program announced a Spanish-language radio ad buy across Georgia, focused on Donald Trump’s mismanagement of the COVID-19 crisis and the impacts it’s had on the economy and jobs, especially in the Latino community.
Simply titled “Biden,” the 60 second ad started airing earlier this week in Spanish across the state in an effort to persuade Georgia’s Latino movable voters to cast ballots for Joe Biden in a state that has not voted for a Democrat in a presidential election since Bill Clinton in 1992. The ad will run on a total of 11 stations through election day.

PFAW is the first to invest in reaching out to Latino voters in Spanish in Georgia and is the only group investing in Spanish-language media across the state in 2020.
There are an estimated 32 million eligible Latino voters nationwide and an estimated 291,000 eligible Latino voters in Georgia, which represents 4 percent of all eligible voters in the state--enough to turn the tide in a state where polling suggests Donald Trump is losing ground. This year Latino voters will be the largest racial or ethnic minority participating in a presidential election.
“We are going to win Georgia this year and the Latino community is key to this victory,” said President of People For the American Way Ben Jealous. “Georgians have watched for years as Brian Kemp and state Republicans try to suppress Black and brown voters in Atlanta and around the state. But no amount of suppression can make up for the frustration of the tens of thousands who have lost loved ones and livelihoods to a pandemic Donald Trump continues to downplay. Georgians have had enough."
“When you prioritize Latino communities, we will flex our political muscles at the voting polls,” People For the American Way board member, civil rights and labor leader Dolores Huerta. “Our families have spent many years, especially these last four years, exposing racist, anti-Latino, anti-immigrant political agendas and making sure Latino voters are engaged and organized. Latinos are more motivated than ever to defeat Trump for good and we can do it with Latino voters in Georgia.”
“Georgia, like Virginia in 2019, has the potential to turn from red to blue if Latino voters show up in record numbers to vote,” said People For the American Way Political Director Lizet Ocampo. “Latinos Vote! and People For the American Way are deeply committed to reaching out and engaging the Latino community across Georgia because Latino voters can help decide this election.”
