Atlanta— Today, People For the American Way announced a new digital ad release focused on the life and successes of Georgia U.S. Senate candidate Reverend Raphael Warnock. The ad was unveiled on People For’s Twitter and Facebook pages on December 21, and will be shared through Election Day, Jan. 5.

See the video, “Vote for Reverend Warnock by January 5,” here.

This video is the latest in a series of ads and part of a major effort by People For the American Way to get out the vote for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in Georgia’s January 5 runoff elections. Last week, People For’s Latinos Vote! program announced a six-figure radio ad buy on Georgia’s Spanish language radio stations.

The video is also narrated by Antone De’jaun Davis-Correia, the nephew of Troy Davis who was killed by lethal injection in 2011, after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to stop his execution. Rev. Warnock presided over Davis’s funeral. Davis-Correia is a criminal justice reform advocate who supports candidates like Warnock that are committed to fixing a broken system that disproportionately impacts people of color.

Until November’s presidential election, Georgia had not voted for a Democrat in a presidential election since 1992, when they voted for Bill Clinton.

“We are going to win these Senate seats, and that starts with giving Georgians a more personal look at who the candidates are,” said People For the American Way President Ben Jealous. “Rev. Warnock grew up in the housing projects of Savannah and now preaches from the same pulpit as Martin Luther King Jr. On the other hand, Kelly Loeffler and her husband have spent their time donating millions to wealthy and powerful conservatives and causes that ignore the needs of Georgians and the American people in hopes of buying her current Senate seat.”

SCRIPT:

S1: Meet Georgia’s next Senator, Reverend Raphael Warnock.

S2: Reverend Warnock grew up in Kayton Homes public housing in Savannah with his 11 brothers and sisters.

“I’m fighting to make sure that kids like me, whether they’re growing up in public housing down in Savannah Georgia, or rural disaffected northern Georgia, that they have access to the American Dream that I believe so much in.”

S3: Fifteen years ago, Warnock was chosen to become the Senior Pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church – the former pulpit of Martin Luther King, Jr.

“My whole life has been about service. It is why I entered into the ministry. I am running for the US Senate as a continuation of that life project.”

S4: Now, the Far Right, backed by corrupt corporate interests, are using the same playbook to attack Rev. Warnock’s life of service that they used to attack Dr. King.

S5: Reverend Warnock has spent his life fighting for access to affordable health care. For working people. For equality and justice for all. For people like us.

S6: Your vote is your power. Use it to make real change for you, your family, and your country.  Vote for Reverend Warnock by January 5th.
