This week, Iowans will receive robocalls and hear radio ads from a white nationalist super PAC urging caucus-goers to support Donald Trump. The ad, recorded by self-described white nationalists, calls on Iowans to support Donald Trump because of his extreme and bigoted stance on immigration. “We don’t need Muslims. We need smart, well-educated white people,” the ad states.
In response to the ad, People For the American Way President Michael B. Keegan stated:
“This is an ugly ad, and it comes from an ugly stance being taken by Donald Trump. Trump should condemn this ad—and he should renounce his racist policy position to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. No one aspiring to the nation’s top office should accept bigotry as any part of his or her campaign or promote it as part of his or her platform. Trump and many of his fellow Republican contenders’ willingness to embrace anti-Muslim rhetoric goes against American values.”
