Will Donald Trump Cover The Legal Fees Of Fan Who Assaulted A Protester?

Donald Trump has promised supporters that if they “knock the crap out of” a protester, he will cover their legal fees(link is external): “Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise. It won’t be so much ’cause the courts agree with us too.”

Indeed, some Trump rallies have become  violent affairs(link is external), often(link is external) stoked(link is external) by the candidate himself. Just this week, Trump’s campaign manager reportedly grabbed and bruised a Breitbart reporter(link is external) who was asking the candidate a question.

It seems that Trump will finally have an opportunity to fulfill his vow, as one of his supporters has now been “charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct(link is external)” after he punched a demonstrator in the head.

The Trump fan said of the protester(link is external): “Next time we see him, we might have to kill him.”

Trump, who once said he’d like to punch a protester “in the face(link is external),” now has a chance to show his supporters if they can trust his word.
