Religious-right radio host Todd Starnes encouraged college-aged Republicans to fight “patchouli-smelling leftists” and “pink hat gals” who lay a hand on them.
A viral video of an altercation between two students at Sacramento State College was a topic of discussion on yesterday's episode of “The Todd Starnes Show.” The Sacramento Bee reports that the video shows students Floyd Johnson II of the Sacramento State College Republicans and Keaton Hill after Johnson confronted Hill about an online argument the two had on abortion. In the video, Hill repeatedly slaps Johnson. Johnson did not fight Hill after he was slapped, but Starnes was apparently itching for more of a rumble.
“So look, I don’t believe in violence. You know, I think that should be your last resort. But I will say this, and we have seen so many of these kinds of attacks on university campuses,” Starnes said. “I just want to say this. If you are a conservative college student, if you’re a member of Young America’s Foundation, or Turning Point USA, or the College Republicans and somebody lays a hand on you—one of these little foul-mouthed, patchouli-smelling leftists. If they come after you—one of these snowflakes, one of these pajama boys, or the pink hat gals—and they put a hand on you, then you have an obligation and you have a right as an American citizen to fight back and defend yourself, because you don’t know what these people are capable of doing.”
“I guarantee you one of the reasons they’re attacking these conservatives: they know the conservatives are not going to fight back,” Starnes continued. “So that’s why they’re going and punching the conservatives in the nose. And that’s why they’re going and they’re yanking the ‘Make America Great Again’ hats off the kids at the Whataburgers. Because they know the conservatives aren’t going to fight back.”
