Earlier this month, the New York Times published a lengthy exposé revealing how Donald Trump used "dubious tax schemes" and "outright fraud" to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in the 1990s.
While appearing on SkyWatch TV last Friday, Charisma's Steve Strang defended Trump, insisting that he had been "forced" to engage in massive tax fraud because the tax laws are "so unfair."
Strang was promoting his forthcoming book, “Trump Aftershock," explaining that evangelicals continue to support Trump because "all the presidents have done things that don't please people." While Christians might not approve of some aspects of his personality, Strang said, they have nothing to complain about in terms of the policies he has been implementing.
When host Derek Gilbert asserted that the media is somehow being unfair to Trump by "digging into his tax returns" in order to attack him "for doing things that are perfectly legal," Strang leapt to Trump's defense.
"That's what we all do," Strang said. "They write the tax laws to force you to do that because they are so unfair."
