Former White House adviser Sebastian Gorka told conservative radio host Lars Larson yesterday that there is “nothing” going on between President Trump and his former chief strategist Steve Bannon and that they have been attacking each other over quotes Bannon gave to the author of a new book because they’re “both alpha males” and “the political atmosphere is very, very charged.”
In an interview yesterday, after news had broken in The Guardian of Bannon telling the new book’s author, Michael Wolff, that a meeting that the president’s son had was “treasonous” and Trump responded by saying that Bannon had “lost his mind,” Larson asked Gorka what he thought was “going on between president Trump and Steve Bannon.”
Gorka replied that “nothing” was going on, adding, “I don’t know why anyone gives The Guardian the time of day” because the paper “has fabricated stories one after another.”
“Cooler minds have to prevail, everybody needs to step back, everybody needs to count to 10 and recognize who The Guardian really is,” Gorka said.
When Larson asked why Bannon and Trump were reacting to the book “if it’s all just salacious but made-up nonsense,” Gorka responded that it’s just in the nature of “alpha males” and that it’s all the left’s fault for “trying to divide us.”
“Well, they’re both alpha males, you know, and 2018 is going to be an even more important year than 2016 and 2017 so the stakes are massive, we’re on the brink of a potential DACA vote, the political atmosphere is very, very charged, but you’d have to talk to Steve and you’d have to talk to the president,” he said. “But all I know is there is one story here and it’s the left trying to divide us and we’re not going to left them.”
