Last week, televangelist Jim Bakker offered viewers a chance to purchase a DVD of his 1979 interview with then-presidential candidate Ronald Reagan.
In an excerpt screened on Bakker’s program, Reagan tells Bakker after the interview is over that he is worried America is beginning to resemble Sodom and Gomorrah and that they could see Armageddon in their lifetime.
“Do you ever get the feeling sometimes that if we don’t do it now, if we let this be another Sodom and Gomorrah, that maybe we might be the generation that sees Armageddon?” he said.
Bakker, for his part, warned that religion was being “crushed” under the Carter administration, stating that Jimmy Carter “doesn’t act like an evangelical Christian.”
