While guest-hosting yesterday’s edition of “Washington Watch,” Religious Right leader Richard Land criticized Right Wing Watch as a “gay thought police” group run by “pinheads” who have wrongly smeared him.
Land, while speaking with Craig James of the Family Research Council, said Right Wing Watch writers “distort me all the time,” citing a (non-existent) Right Wing Watch post entitled “Land Equates Gays With Klansmen” about how he thinks that penalizing a baker for refusing service to a gay couple is like punishing an African-American baker who didn’t want to serve a Ku Klux Klan induction ceremony. (That post actually appeared on Good As You.)
For right-wing activists who seem to think that disagreement amounts to religious persecution, quoting them verbatim is now apparently a high crime.
