Religious Right activist Randy Thomasson of SaveCalifornia.com appeared on Gordon Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" show last week, where he warned that efforts to add a third gender option for those applying for driver's licenses in California will lead to more AIDS casualties.
As Thomasson sees it, adding a non-binary gender option would sow "anarchy and chaos" in the state by confusing young people who are applying for their first license. The mere presence of the third option, Thomasson claimed, is “telling children that there are more than two genders and that we've got to forget about science and chromosomes."
Klingenschmitt agreed, saying that "if you check that third square and say non-binary, what you're really disclosing is, 'I have a mental illness.'"
Thomasson went on to baselessly claim that this is "a really dangerous thing" because "transexuality/cross-dressing is the highest transmitter of HIV/AIDS in our land, it's even more dangerous than homosexuality." He complained that while the government requires warning labels on things like food and commercials and television programs, California is busy "promoting gender confusion."
"They're promoting certain behavior to children without telling children there are real risks and real harms and why this behavior should be avoided," he said. "So it's a big lie to children and we're going to have more casualties."
