In yet another anti-gay rant posted on YouTube last year, Ted Cruz’s father and chief surrogate Rafael argued that it is inaccurate to call gay people “gay.” After arguing that abortion rights supporters should not be called “pro-choice” but rather “pro-death” and “pro-murder,” Cruz explained that “it’s just like calling homosexuals ‘gays.’ ‘Gay’ means happy, they try to dilute it so that it becomes socially acceptable.”
Cruz told a gathering of the Tea Party-aligned group Grassroots America We The People that gay rights advocates want conservatives to “prostitute our principles on behalf of tolerance” and vowed to never support marriage equality. “Start being biblically correct instead of politically correct,” he said.
In a speech at a Baptist church in Irving, Texas in June, Cruz went into detail about his claims that gay people are a threat to children and suggested that gays will join the Boy Scouts of America to sexually assault children.
“I was a Boy Scout, most of the times when you went out camping the tents were tents for two kids, I certainly don’t want my child with a potential sexual predator sleeping next to him,” he said.
He said Christians should have been more “militant” in order to prevent the Boy Scouts from including openly gay scouts and criticized the Southern Baptists for not breaking off ties with the BSA completely.
